29 Aug 2021

If you have a car, you must know that your car is vulnerable to the damage caused by sneaky rats. As rat infestation is very common around the world and is a serious problem for all the car owners. I am not saying that rats damage your car on purpose. There’s a reason rats get into your car engine bay and chew wires. So before we get to the solution, it’s important to know the cause of the problem.

Why rats chew car wires?

Rodents chew on things to keep their teeth trimmed. Because rats and other rodents have teeth that, like our hair, continues to grow. If they don’t keep their teeth trimmed, it can be fatal for them. That’s why rats chew on plastic or anything else that's in their reach. And cars are an easy and obvious target as it offers them nice shelter, abundant wires and plastic to chew on.

That’s why as car owners we have to stop rats from getting in our cars. Because of the destruction, they will cause can be very stressful. You will have to spend on repair more than you can imagine. That’s why we should do everything we can to protect our cars.

How to stop rats from chewing car wires?

The problem is that most of us are not even aware of the fact that rats can cause so much destruction to cars. But if you are reading this blog, then you are at least aware of the problem. Now, all we have to do is look for the solutions. Here you will find that too. Read on to know the various and effective ways to protect your car from rats or rodents.

There are many home remedies like using peppermint, tobacco, or mothballs to keep rats away from your car. But the thing is, these are all temporary solutions and you keep on have to change/refill the stock. Some folks prefer rat repellent spray. But the problem with sprays is they leave a weird smell in your car. Rats can even die in your car and it will add up to your problem. Plus, you will have to spray it every few weeks. It will become a recurring expense for you.

The best solution, in my experience, is ultrasonic rat repellent. As they do their job efficiently and you don’t have to keep on changing it. Once installed, it works for many years and comes with a high success rate. I installed CARCAT Duo in my car last year and it’s still working effectively. One of my friends has been using it for the past 5 years. Which means it offers good value for money too. Personally, I feel, it makes sense to spend on a good electronic rat repellent rather than spending on repair after the damage is caused by rats.

Hope this would be helpful for you all car owners. Take good care of your cars and yourselves. Have a great day!
