No. Audible beep which occurs every 30 seconds is a troubleshooting feature for car owners to check if the ultrasound system is working. Audible beeps are at a lower human audible frequency and created with the same ultrasound crystal. The audible beep feature can be disabled (default – "enabled"). To disable / enable the feature, refer Config key (Touch) menu / setup guide (pg.4).

If the car / engine is running, that means the battery is getting charged and CARCAT-RED will go into standby mode. This feature is "enabled" by default. To disable / enable the feature, refer Config key (Touch) menu / setup guide (pg.4). If this is happening with the feature disabled, something is wrong – contact customer care.

If the car battery voltage discharges below 10.5 Volts (21 Volts for 24V system) and shutdown mode feature is enabled (default – "disabled") CARCAT-RED will go into shutdown mode to stop battery from draining further, which can damage the battery permanently. To disable / enable the feature, refer Config key (Touch) menu / setup guide (pg.4). If this is happening with the feature disabled, something is wrong – contact customer care.

Press the Config touch key on CARCAT-RED for 15 ticks to enter feature scroll / status check menu. Navigate to the feature using the RGB-LED colour / Status decode to check if feature is enabled / disabled. Pressing the config touch key for a further 8 ticks toggles the feature state. i.e., if it is disabled it will be enabled and vice versa. Refer Config key (Touch) menu / setup guide (pg. 4) for details or contact customer care for further guidance.

CARCAT-RED is the all-new 4^th generation ultrasonic rat repellent system. It has a new ZigZag ultrasound algorithm and an RGB-LED which strobes/flashes green / blue light variations to attack the two most vital auditory and visual senses of the rat. It also employs optimized intermittent pulsing which consume 20% less power than previous generations (without hampering efficacy) CARCAT-RED has a car battery monitoring system and feature configuration (enable / disable) which allows CARCAT-RED to ① enter STANDBY mode if the car engine is "ON" or ② enter SHUTDOWN mode if the car battery voltage drops below 10.5 volts.

Certain animals like Rats/bats/dolphins have the ability to detect ultrasound with varying frequency ranges. The rats/rodents are mainly nocturnal and their night vision isn’t as good. They rely on ultrasound for communication (distress signalling/mating calls) and to a certain extent echo location. CARCAT-RED bombards ultrasound waves with a unique ZigZag algorithm which disturbs and disorients the rat/rodent. The ultrasound intensity is much more intense and deafening than the rat/rodent can tolerate. To add to its woes, these wave patterns interfere with the echo location and cuts out incoming ultrasound signatures of its natural predators like snakes and cats and also other rats and rodents. They are also very territorial creatures and will attack and kill another trespassing rat/rodent. Ultrasound is its sixth sense and blocking that makes it very insecure of its environment.

If CARCAT-RED is installed as per the installation manual the rats/rodents should stop visiting within a week. Rats/rodents are stubbornly territorial and they will resist relocating as long as possible and it is as per the individual rat/rodent’s tolerance limits against CARCAT-RED ultrasound and optical bombardment. Tests and customer feedback have shown they leave within a week.

For existing infestation there might be an initial resistance by the rat/rodent to relocate. (Read above question/answer)

• It is advised that the car engine bay area be thoroughly cleaned and washed at the garage making sure rat faeces and urine traces are removed as far as possible. Rats/rodent like most animals mark and identify their territory with their urine.
• Keep checking the engine bay area for faeces/urine traces for a few days post installation and clean it immediately. The rat/rodent may not be able to stay too long in the presence of ultrasound bombardment but will try and mark its territory.
• For really heavy infestation prickly heat powder with a strong menthol / mint flavour can be put at the time of installation for a more immediate three-pronged effects and force the rat/rodent to relocate or find another shelter.
• Park the vehicle at a different location for a few days.

CARCAT-RED cause both auditory and visual distress to repels rats / rodents. The ZigZag ultrasound and green / blue RGB-LED light variations make it unbearable for them. They may visit or briefly enter to escape a prey but will not be able to stay for too long to cause any damage.

Yes. It does matter whether your car is front or rear engine, as long as installation is in accordance to as mentioned in the installation manual. For cars having engines at the bottom (e.g., Maruti Ecco) installation should be such that dirt does not accumulate on the front grill of CARCAT-RED.

CARCAT-RED has been thoroughly tested on all segments of cars from small cars to SUV’s. As such it can be used in vehicles having a 12 to 35VDC electrical system (battery) and an enclosed engine bay area. Yes. CARCAT-RED comes with screws, fuse and cable ties. All you need is a mechanic to fit it and get it running.

It is recommended CARCAT-RED loop connectors be directly connected to the battery terminals. (Refer the installation manual) For cars wherein battery is not in the engine bay, connect to live terminals that come to the engine bay area.

CARCAT-RED has configurable features like STANDBY and SHUTDOWN modes. Kindly refer to the installation / configuration manual to further understand the different modes.

CARCAT-RED consumes less than 0.35 watts average power which is much less power than the other always ‘ON’ gadgets like security system, etc. consume. Car batteries use lead acid chemistry which does not have a very long standby time even if they are disconnected, because they self-discharge at a typical rate of 4% to 10% depending on the make, age and use of battery.

A typical healthy 35AH small car battery should work for at least 20 days considering a 4% discharge rate and assuming full charge.
